EPL Round Up: Week 3

Manchester City:

Finally! the raging thunder is settling down. It is only surprising to see the champions been tamed by the restless Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday. In an encountere were everyone had thought would have been a thorough fare for the Manchester giant, Wolves were the first to put one through the goal post on the 58th minute by Willy Boly. it took until the 69th minute for Laporte to lay in the equalizer for the citizens. Although they pestered harder to get the match winner, but unfortunately futile.

The 1-1 draw paved way for the Mersyside Reds (Liverpool) to capitalize later in the day. This will also be passing a sincere message to other teams of how possible it is to break the Citizens. After all, they aint unstoppable. The Citizens will be looking to bounce back to winning ways when they face Newcastle utd next week.

After losing two big games in a row, the North Londoners are coming back into the picture with an emphatic 3-1 win over Westham. This is moreover their first win in the Epl under new Manager Unai Emery. Hopefully, the win becomes the beginning of new things in the Emirate.

The Gunners went 1-0 behind when West ham’s Arnaurtovic converted a cross in the 24th minute. It wasn’t late before Nacho Monreal strucked in a goal from a Bellerin Delivery on the 29th minute mark. Although Arsenal dominated possessions in the game, they were too lose at the back. West ham would have been a spoiler if they had also been clinical in their attacks too.

In the second half, however, Arsenal were up in the 70th minute thanks to a Lacazette assisted own goal by Diop. This became the first time in the league campaign Arsenal will be taking a lead. The Gunners consolidated lead in the 90+2 minute when Danny Welbeck confidently placed in a goal.

It ended 3-1 for the Gunners and the manager will be absolutely delighted with the result however. They take their next trip to Cardiff City nextweek with a bright hope for victory.

With the spot on top of the league table on sight, the Reds were hoping to capitalize on City’s draw. Liverpool did just that when they played Brighton Hove and Albion. Mo Salah puts the Reds ahead in the 22nd minute. With Liverpool dominating the major parts of the possession and more shots on targets, Liverpool were not able to add up to the scoreline. It ended 1-0 but with 9 points in 3games, it was enough to take them top of the standings pending the outcome of the Newcastle vs Chelsea (Sunday) and Manchester United vs Tottenham (Monday night) matches respectively
