EPL ROUND UP: Week 2

Arsenal Vs Chelsea:

Arsenal suffered yet another painful loss this weekend on the road to Chelsea. The London rivals needed the game to not only claim the bragging right but also boost their chances on the title chase.

Chelsea, already with 3 points before the game, were first to initiate successful attacks. Pedro Rodriguez [9’] and Alvaro Morata [20’] both found the net in the early minutes of the game. Unlike the Arsenal, Unai Emery’s side proved their strength making sure the game webt back to level [2-2] before half time through Alex Iwobi and Mkhitariyan.

At the start of the second half, both teams had chances to take the lead. But it took the introduction of Eden Hazard to turn things around for the blues. On the 81min., through a misplaced Lacazette pass, Chelsea found the rhythm that led to the goal.

Hazard crossing out a low ball connecting Marcos Alonso who made no mistake by directing it straight into the net.

The game ended 3-2. Chelsea claiming victory and Arsenal suffering yet another loss.

Tottenham:

In another London derby of the week, Tottenham hotspur comfortably beat Fulham to complete a back to back win. It took up till the 44th minute before lucas Moura opened scoring for Tottenham. Fulham immediately responded at the start of the second half [52’ min] to equalize.

Tottenham replied by banging in 2 more goals before the end of the match. Harry kane having one of the goals to gift the hotspurs a 3-1 win. Contenders or not? We will know in subsequent weeks.

Manchester United:

Without mincing words, United are yet to pick the form required to challenge for the league title. Last week saw them sweated out a win over Leicester City. This week, without Alexix Sanchez though, united recorded a 3-2 loss to Brighton and Hove Albion.

Glen Murray opened [25th] and Shane Duffy [27th] helped Brighjton take the lead. Lukaku pulled one back in the 34th minute. Just when we taught United were ready for a comeback, Eric Bailly conceded a penalty on the 44th minute.

The penalty was well converted by Pascal Gross to ensure Brighton have a comfortabl;e lead into half time. The scores remained the same until the 94th minute when Pogba converted a spot kick to make it 3-2. This loss leaves a question mark on Manchester’s title challenge.

Manchester City

The champions are refusing to relent. After collected their opening 3 points away to Arsenal last weekend, the Citizen are looking more stronger and equipped to go more games without defeat. Trashing Huddersfield 6-1 mark their territory on top of the league standings.

Though without De Bruyne, the arrival of David Silva, Gabrielle Jesus and Leroy Sana into the starting line-up is enough to gorgeously dominate. Trust Kun Aguero to make steer in goals when needed.

Aguero [25’, 35’, 75’] got an hatrick in the fixture. Jesus [31’] and Silva [48’] and a Sane threatened own goal by Kongolo [85’] completed the goals. Jon Gorenc-Stankovic scored Huddlesfield’s only goal in the 45min.

Liverpool:

Tonight is another test for the Reds as they face … to prove their worth once again. The front trio of Salah, Mane, Firmihno will be too strong for the … to handle. A win tonight will also put them on the list of contenders as we go into game 3 next weekend.
